Why people do people participate in groups
Thundercats
There are many groups people participate in like sports, music groups, scouts/girl guides, community groups, book clubs, party groups (tupperware, etc), SRC, working in a group at school, mums and bubs groups.
There are lots of common reasons why people participate in groups like:
SPORTS – Fun, fitness, friendship, competition
MUSIC GROUPS – especially if you like to play music and sing
SCOUTS/GIRL GUIDES – especially if you like to run and learn new skills and like to camp
COMMUNITY GROUPS – if you like to deliver things to people and like helping the country
BOOK CLUBS – especially if you like to read
PARTY GROUPS – If you like to have a little job outside of your normal job and earn a little bit of pocket money, but also meeting a large variety of new poeple.
SRC – especially if you like to be a leader at school
WORKING IN A GROUP AT SCHOOL – especially if you like working in a group and getting different ideas
MUMS AND BUBS GROUPS – if you like to meet new people and doing exercises
Groups that work well together can achieve much more than individuals that work alone. At a larger range of skills can be shared to practical activities, and sharing and discussing ideas can broaden your understanding on a particular subject.
I have done calisthenics since i was 3. My mum signed me up because she liked calisthenics and she did it when she was a child. I like the dancing and costumes but also being part of a team and competing together. I also get the chance to compete alone in solo competitions.
I have played netball for nearly 5 years. I like the friendships i have made and what i have learnt about the game but mostly having to work as a team to get the results. Everyone in the team has an equal part to do to get the results.
I helped in the school canteen earlier this year and I had to learn quickly a little more about money and addition/subtraction. It was also great to be able to help people.

Different types of teams that everyone can participate in are sporting groups like cricket and footie. team building exercises, trust exercises (eg trust falls), there is also education groups like math, spelling, reading and there is support groups like addiction groups so people can let their feelings and help recover.
Some reasons why people participate in groups is because it creates good teamwork skills people can learn off other people’s, ideas come together and people learn to merge ideas.
Research shows that working in groups can increase productivity and performance like three people working as hard as they can in a group will gather more information than one person alone, it also will give you more confidence when speaking to a large number of people because the person will have been communicating with other people than not communicating with anyone and no one to practice with.
Some groups I have been involved in are mostly cricket ones like club school and academe. I chose to participate in these because it would be much more fun than just watching or playing by myself. There is also learning groups which makes me collaborate my idea and then get feed back so I can make improvements or point out mistakes. It also gives other people ideas for next time.

Lacrosse was created by North America.
Basketball was created by the Dr.Jans Naismith in Massachusetts.
Soccer dates back to the 2500 B.C. and was known to be invented by the
Greeks, Egyptians and the Chinese.
Netball was invented by In 1891 Dr James Naismith, a Canadian immigrant YMCA instructor in the USA, invented the game of basketball. Another American, Dr Toles, who was visiting England in 1895, introduced basketball to that country, and although Englishmen preferred traditional sports, it was popular with the ladies.
William Webb Ellis picked up a ball and invented Rugby. A rugby football union inquiry in 1895 found no proof however it decided to perpetuate the myth.

Why do people participate in groups;
Maybe they join groups for fun, work or socialising with others. There are many types or groups such as, sports groups, music groups, chess groups, committees, school groups, after school groups, reading / book groups, ect. People may also join for the experience. In a sports group, you might join for the fitness. You also might join because your friends might join or maybe you want to make new friends. You might also join for new ideas and for learning from others.
In a group, everyone has a roll to play. Like in a sports group for example you might have a team captain, defenders, attackers ect. If you are part of a group and don’t play your role, you can let the team down. I know when I played soccer earlier this year, I had to play goals and when the ball came down our end I had to be ready. And if I hadn’t played my part we would have lost the competition. But because everyone played their role and tried their hardest, we came first in the division. So I learnt that if you don’t play your role properly, you can make people unhappy and angry because you let them down.

Why Do People Participate in Groups
A lot of people participate in groups like sport groups, Community groups, Reading Groups, Science Groups, etc. The reason why people join these are because they either don’t do a lot of stuff, they want to communicate with others or they want to try something new. These groups I made for having fun, discussing and resolving problems and including everyone so they all have a say. Some people can’t join because their too fat, have a disability or just don’t want too. Most of the people in these groups are friends or neighbors.
I have been in only 3 group and that was at Reynella Football Club. I socialised with my teammates and coach and people part of Reynella Football Club. The second time was at Garden Custodians at Woodend Primary School in year 6. I did with 2 of my friends Tyson (year 6) and Marc (year 7). In the program we had to make sure there were only 20 people in the garden and made sure people respect the garden. And the last community group I was in was the library committee which I did in year 6 and year 7 at Woodend Primary School. In that I socialised with Marc in year 6 and Miss Schev Shanko in year 7.

People participate in teams to make friends and to have a new experience. Participating in teams means they can have fun fun with other people. Some groups are soccer, reading, tennis, football etc. some people join groups to challenge themselves and go out of their comfort zone. There cane be boy groups girl groups and unisex.
I like to participate in sport and other groups. The most popular groups are sports groups. Anything can be a group for example a mums group.
European handball was made in northern Europe—primarily in Denmark, Germany, Norway and Sweden.
A lot of people join some groups that they already like. And some join groups that they do just too make new friends and try something new. Most people like to do sports more than the community groups such as reading, cleaning etc.
My friends participate in sporting groups just like me but we have different interests. I think it’s a good idea because it involves everyone and their skill levels. I participate in tennis and going to a Russian school on the weekends. My dad use to be in the Yugoslav war and he was in a team. This is my explanation hope you enjoyed.

I think people work in groups because they can share their ideas around to other people in there group. Another reason is if people did not work in groups football would not exist cricket and a lot of other sports. Working in groups is good because your teammates can give you support and feedback on how you are going in the sport and what you need to improve on to get better. Working as a group is good aswell because you can make a lot of friends working in a group. Working in a group is good because you can get stuff done quicker and then you would be able to do something else because you have more people doing one thing. being in a group is good because you can learn new sports because the people in your group that know different sports and rules and you get to know new sports. I participate in bmx and you need to work in groups because working in groups in bmx they give you support about what you are doing and get you to try new stuff at bmx and when you try new stuff you get better at the sport.

Types of groups
Almost everyone participates in a group activity. Some participate in sports groups, school groups, music groups, etc. These groups enable you to meet knew people, make friends and share ideas.
Why people participate in groups
My mum created a twins group because she thought it would be a good way to meet other mums with twins such as Ethan and I. She also thought that it would help us children to make friends and socialise. I think that it was a great way to share ideas with the other mums. For example Ethan had reflux when he was younger, so my mum used to ask the other mums what they fed their child. Because of this group I have known Cody and Jesse since I was born.
The benefits
The benefits of participating in groups and clubs is that you can actually talk to different people that enjoy doing the same things as you. You can talk to others about different aspects. With a sporting group you meet new friends, learn New sporting abilities, learn to work as a team and, to be outdoors, to teach you competitiveness, to create exciting and fun memories.
groups I have been apart of
I have been apart of netball for 7 years. I started playing netball because I really enjoy the game, I get to meet knew people and to learn competitiveness. I have achieved making team #1 two years in a row and best player runner up. I also participate in the jump rope for heart team. I joined this group because I year 1,2,3 I watched the people in the jump rope team perform at assemblies and I just wanted to be apart of something that I was going to enjoy.

Team Dynamics: Why people participate in groups
There are many types of groups that people participate in. They may participate by choice or through necessity. They can range from sporting groups like basketball, tennis, soccer, football, hockey and volley-ball to committee groups like Library, SRC (Social Representative Committee) and Wellbeing groups.
Groups are made up of a number of people that could be two or more and into the hundreds or thousands… even more!
Some other groups include association groups like the Scouts, Cubs and Girl Guides; SLSC (Surf Life Saving Clubs); Reader’s Associations, eg: book clubs; and associations for groups with disabilities, eg: the blind or deaf (hearing impaired).
Some common reasons to join a group are for companionship (not to be lonely); to have fun; to socialise and make new friends. Fitness is also a common reason people join groups eg: gym classes and training. People join groups to share knowledge, ideas and opinions with others as well as resources.
Some benefits for individuals joining groups include:
Gaining skills and expertise in sports or other activities
Positive social interactions improve confidence and wellbeing
Sharing resources helps individuals gain knowledge about subjects they are I interested in
People are less lonely & isolated (feeling left alone)
Some benefits to society include:
More professionals in groups: eg athletes to compete in big events like Olympics and experts for jobs
Less depression and suicide
I have been involved in groups including: basketball, soccer, tennis and Auskick; SRC; Church; Choir.
I chose to participate in these groups for fitness, fun and sometimes because I just wanted to try something new.
Sometimes in group sports I find it a challenge when the umpires call a foul when I haven’t done one. I cope with this by accepting the foul and moving on fast.
