This year our buddy class is a group of brand new reception students. As we get to know them, we will be working toward preparing for an assembly at the beginning of next term. In preparation for this we have started learning ‘Ka Tahi’ which is a Maori counting chant from New Zealand. We think that this will be something that we can teach our buddies well once we know it ourselves! We will also look of a song from New Zealand that we can learn to perform at the assembly. We would love to hear your advice and suggestions.
Here we are beginning to learn:

Fantastic Work. I might even do the Ka Tahi myself.
I suggest that you take it slower and do it more slower- do not rush it.
But Brilliant work and i will look forward to see some more videos.

This is Zahra from class Narwhals in Yr6.
I loved your Ka Tahi and thought that it is absolutely fantastic that you are going to be doing an assembly to Reception children from New Zealand.
Why don’t you try to learn some of their language to make it easier to communicate with them?
Thank you for reading my comment.
